Custom WordPress sites, not template installs

Most WordPress sites are built by installing a premium theme — Divi, Elementor, Avada — uploading a logo, and calling it done. The result is a site carrying 300kb of CSS it doesn't use, a dozen plugins doing jobs that could be handled in 20 lines of code, and a Lighthouse score in the 40s. A properly engineered WordPress build starts with a blank custom theme, hand-coded PHP templates, and only the plugins that cannot be reasonably replaced with custom code. That distinction is the difference between a WordPress site that loads in 4 seconds and one that loads in under 1.5.

WordPress is the right choice when your team needs to manage content independently, when your budget fits the platform, and when the content publishing workflow matters more than raw performance. It is not the right choice when you need sub-100ms server response times, heavy real-time interactivity, or a fully decoupled frontend — those projects are better served by a headless architecture. We'll tell you honestly which approach suits your situation, because recommending WordPress to every client regardless of fit isn't something we do.

Security hardening is non-negotiable on every WordPress build we deliver. That means disabling the default admin login URL, enforcing strong authentication, configuring automatic core and security-patch updates (with plugin updates tested against a staging environment first), and setting up file integrity monitoring so any unauthorised changes are flagged immediately. WordPress powers 43% of the web, which makes it the most targeted CMS by attackers — a default install with default settings is not a secure install.
